Interested in Joining the Lab?

Do you have interests in animal behavior, evolution, ecology, neuroscience, and hormones? Are you passionate about scientific research and working as part of a diverse, interdisciplinary team? You may be a good fit for the Westrick Lab!

To preview potential projects, check out our Research page. I encourage you to think about how your own individual research interests fit within the core research themes and systems. Please note there are other labs with much more expertise in the conservation of amphibians, an incredibly important research topic! Therefore, if you’re interested in population-level, conservation-driven questions, our lab may not be the right fit for you.

See details below for specific positions.

  • We do not currently have funding for postdoc appointments but would love to work with interested candidates on securing independent funding through an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biology and/or other collaborative grants/fellowships. Please reach out to Sarah with your research ideas!

  • The Westrick Lab is recruiting a graduate student to start Fall 2026. Please review the WFU Graduate School and WFU Dept. of Biology application information. The Department of Biology at Wake guarantees stipend support through TA or RA-ships for 5 years for PhD students and 4 semesters for MS students (including summers). I encourage you to also check out independent funding sources. If you are interested in applying for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program or other fellowships, reach out to Sarah well in advance of the deadline to discuss potential projects!

  • Undergraduates interested in conducting an independent research project with the Westrick Lab or simply getting their feet wet by volunteering on existing projects or working as paid animal caretakers are always welcome to reach out to Sarah or our lab manager. Before conducting any independent projects, undergrads contribute to frog care.
